Saturday, March 5 - Today the missionaries from various areas up north started their move toward Mbuji-Mayi from the outlying areas. Gottefroide was scheduled to help move them.
Sunday, March 6 - We took Dr. and Sister Peterson to the Nyashi 2 Ward. That is the ward with the tent over the concrete for Sacrament Meeting. The people there are so friendly. President Thomas said this ward is the poorest in the area. So this is a good place for us to go on Fast Sunday to pay our fast offering.
The Peterson's loved it there. Sister Peterson and I attended Primary. It is good to hear the gospel taught on such simple terms. We hear it not only in French, but also Swahili. The children sang so sweetly. The lesson was finished a few minutes early. It had been on prophets. One of the girls went out of the room and came back with the last conference edition of the Liahona. She opened to the center where the pictures are of the general authorities. They were all crowding around trying to see President Monson. I had a copy in my Sunday bag, so I gave it to a little boy in front of us to look it. Then they started to pronounce Henry B. Eyring and Dieter F. Uchtdorf. The teacher looked at us for help. We said the names, then the children pronounced them after us. It was really funny to hear them try to pronounce Uchtdorf.--a funny as it is to listen to me try to pronounce their African names.
Pictures taken as we traveled from church through the neighborhoods and back to the main road.
