September 4 - 10, 2017 - Transfer Week

September 4 - Someone has started to "part out" the burned van.

September 5 - Walked by the burned out van.

September 6 - Today is Brittney's Birthday.

Sister Bleak and I encountered these two pigs of our walk this morning. Our husbands were ahead of us and didn't seem them come out of the bushes.

September 7 - Made from empty beer bottles

September 8 - We drove President and Sister Shumard to the airport. On the way we saw that half of the burned out van is mission. Didn't stop for a picture. I spent the greater part of the day at the house, working off tension and anxiety by scrubbing the tile floors, even moved all the living room furniture to scrub underneath it.


September 9 - This morning Sister Eastmond and I went to get our hair cut and styled by Monique. Elder Eastmond drove us and spent time looking in Monique's beautiful garden while he waited for us. Elder Peterson went with Elder and Sister Bleak grocery shopping while we were gone.

Today I was in the mood to cook. Here is the result:

A fruit salad sauce

Sweet and Sour chicken. Also jello with fruit

Chocolate cake with a custard sauce to go over it.

Cracked wheat rolls and 3 loaves of cracked wheat bread

The Bishop's daughter returned home from her mission and spoke in church today. Two of her brothers left on missions in the past two months.

This sweet little girl lives across the road from our church. Almost every time we leave the church she stands by the road and waves to us. Today after Elder Bleak closed the gate to the parking lot, he started to walk toward her. She ran back into her courtyard. I took this picture as we passed by. She was still waving to us--but from afar.

We had the Eastmonds and the Bleaks come over for snacks and dessert--a sampling of much of what was cooked yesterday.  Jello, cake with custard, fruit with sauce, crackers and hummus. It was a great time visiting and sharing thoughts. We love them so much. Senior couples get really close with other couples on a mission. A touch of homesickness was evident this weekend on the compound. It was nice to share and realize we are not alone in our feelings.
