Some of our children and grandchildren drove to Marriott Mountainside in Park City where we were staying with the 8 year old grandsons. Our mission call had arrived in the mail. Those not in attendance were listening through skype or phone.

It is official. We received our mission call yesterday to the Democratic Republic of the Congo Lubumbashi Mission. We enter the Provo MTC on Monday, November 16, 2015. Our primary assignment is to labor as an office specialist, serving for a period of 23 months. The official language of the DRC is French.
When we submitted our mission application the only request we made was for French speaking. Apparently the Lord needs our computer skills for this mission. We are excited to work with our mission president, F. Brent Thomas and his wife Carolyn Rawsthorne Thomas from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
We have talked about this day for the past 44 years. Ever since we were married, we have wanted to serve a mission together. Ron served in the French East Mission as a young man. We were married 6 weeks before I turned 21, so my earlier mission has been to be a wife and mother. It will be awesome to be missionary companions.
With our retirement last June, building a family cabin in Idaho, and traveling this past year we have been practicing being basically full-time companions. It has been a great experience to work and play together.
